Dimension films has been kicking around the notion to remake the 1986 film Short Circuit since 2008. I can see the appeal of that - even 20+ years later, Johnny Five is still a much beloved character. However, Dimension is mistepping at every turn here. First they hire Robot Chicken writer Dan Milano to come up with a decent story, which he of course did not do. Milano's script had Johnny Five befriending a small boy who came from a dysfunctional family. Of course over the course of the movie, Johnny Five learns all about humanity and in return solves all of the family's complicated problems somehow (now, if it was in the same vein as Slingblade, then that would be pretty awesome! But of course, Johnny Five would never kill...). Dimension then further showed that they aren't taking this project seriously by hiring Steve Carr to direct. Carr's name to fame was Paul Blart: Mall Cop. This incarnation of the project languished, and I figured this was as low as Dimension could possibly get with this remake. Boy was I wrong! I really should know better by now...

Here is yet another Star Wars vs Star Trek mashup, but this time using scenes from Trek 2009. I usually ignore these as there is already 2894729847297492874 Trek vs Wars garbage floating around on the net.  However, this one illustrates very well how closely the last Star Trek film echoes the George Lucas franchise, thematically and visually. Dialog from Trek 2009 could have been lifted from the Star Wars prequels, and vice-versa.

I'm sure Abrams would take that as a compliment. It's not.

Every time a new trailer for Star Trek comes out, I lose more and more faith and interest in the project.  The first trailer of any substance showed us a beautiful mint-condition 1960's Corvette being driven over the side of a cliff.  Appropriate symbolism, I think.

Yeah I stole that title from somewhere. I don't remember where, but credit goes to whoever made it up. But I believe it was about a year ago that I read an article online with that title. And I thought... no WAY would they do something as lame as a TOS prequel.

Oh how wrong I was.

Instead of posting a blog whining about the whole thing, which I could have done but wouldn't have really been that entertaining, I decided to use my action figures to express my views on the matter. I used an old idea largely inspired by Frank, in which Sarek and Worf review movies together.

I don't care if you don't agree with me. I think STXI is bullshit. It is also an anagram for STIX and who actually likes them?

One more thing... the fact that I actually wrote this thing and got the pictures done in 4 days, compared to the usual 3-6 months it takes me to get anything done, I think that should say something.
